LIU Meng, an acclaimed young percussionist, currently serves as a faculty member at Zhejiang Conservatory of Music. She is a recipient of the double gold medals in both the individual and ensemble categories of the National Arts Excellence Award (Wenhua Award), the highest official honor in Chinese cultural and artistic circles.
Liu began her artistic training at an early age and studied under Professor Li Zhengui, a renowned virtuoso in Chinese traditional percussion. In 2004, she was admitted with outstanding results to the Affiliated Middle School of the Central Conservatory of Music, and was subsequently promoted to the undergraduate and graduate programs. Throughout her academic career, she served as the principal percussionist of the China National Traditional Orchestra. In 2012, Liu participated in an academic exchange program at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, where she studied Western percussion under masters including Gert Mortensen. She completed her studies with full marks in major.
Her performance experience spans prestigious international and national stages: in 2014, she performed at the Great Hall of the People for President Xi Jinping and foreign dignitaries, in 2012, she played a special concert at the Danish Royal Palace in honor of national leader Yu Zhengsheng’s official visit. She has also been actively engaged in significant and national-level events such as the Global Digital Trade Expo, Liangzhu Culture Forum and the National Chinese Instrumental Music Exhibition.
