Edward Sielicki born in 1956 in Warsaw. He studied composition with Andrzej Dobrowolski and Włodzimierz Kotoński at the Academy of Music in Warsaw and with Ton de Leeuw at the Sweelinck Conservatorium in Amsterdam. He participated in international workshops in Amsterdam, Darmstadt, Avignon and others. studying with Chou Wen Chung, Elliott Carter and Witold Lutosławski. Winner of awards in a number of composition competitions in Poland and Switzerland, as well as the prestigious Wyspiański Award, broadcast by the Polish Government, and was also nominated several times for the music industry award “Fryderyk". 

 

Many of his over 180 compositions have been performed in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK., Ukraine, USA, Mexico, Canada, Russia, Italy and South Korea. He has received many commissions from international institutions such as the Warsaw Autumn Festival, Polish Radio, the Ministry of Culture and many orchestras. He is the author of textbooks and active in academic activities. Currently, he is an assistant professor at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. In the years 2001-2018 he was a visiting professor at the Keimyung-Chopin Academy of Music in Daegu (South Korea).

 

He performs symphonic, chamber, vocal, theater, film and electroacoustic music. He works also in the field of multimedia and mixed-media art. He is also the author of many works for children.
