Wu Bixia, Lyric coloratura soprano of world renown, professor of China Conservatory of Music, Beijing. As a leading vocal artist in China, she is the first Chinese artist who had successfully rolled Chinese and Bel canto vocal styles into one and achieved international recognition as "Nightingale East-West". She is the winner of the Tchaikovsky, Bilbao, and Moniuszko International Competitions, holding almost all the prestigious awards and honors from the Chinese Government, Ministry of Culture, and Beijing Municipality. She is a member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese Musicians' Association and deputy to the National People's Congress. She is on the board of the jury to numerous international and national vocal competitions such as the Neue Stimme of Germany, the Golden Bell Prize of China, and the China National Arts Fund. As a teacher, her students are active both on the professional stage and leading conservatories and colleges in China. The series of video/audio materials that she has released serve as the prototypes for students from all over the country.
