MUSICACOUSTICA-HANGZHOU 2023 CALL FOR WORKS

MUSICACOUSTICA-HANGZHOU 2023 will be held from October 24th to 29th at the Zhejiang Conservatory of Music. We are pleased to announce the call for works for the upcoming six electronic music concerts at MUSICACOUSTICA-HANGZHOU, which will showcase the latest achievements in the field of electronic music from around the world. We invite composers, musicians, and sound artists from all over the world to submit their electronic music works for consideration. Submitted works for each concert will be evaluated by experts in the electronic music field. Selected works will be presented in a 500-seat concert hall at Zhejiang Conservatory of Music. The state-of-the-art performance setting, including a 24-channel sound diffusion system and a high-definition LED screen, will ensure the presentation of diverse creative ideas and electronic music works to a high standard.

 

MUSICACOUSTICA-HANGZHOU is jointly organized by Zhejiang Conservatory of Music, The International Confederation of Electroacoustic Music, Electroacoustic Music Association of China, and other organizations. It brings together leading academics and artists from around the world, focusing on the cutting-edge technology and academic developments in the field of electroacoustic music. A series of vibrant events such as electroacoustic music concerts showcasing diverse works, lecture series, electroacoustic music composition competitions, research paper awards, the Electroacoustic Music and Artificial Intelligence Summit, and the Electroacoustic Music and Stage Arts Forum will take place at MUSICACOUSTICA-HANGZHOU that will achieve the fusion of music, science and technology, the integration of academic frontiers and application practice, and the interaction between traditional culture and contemporary spirit.

 

The call for works includes various forms such as fixed-media, instruments with electronics, multimedia compositions, interactive compositions, and other innovative formats. There is no limit to the length of the works, but it is recommended to be less than 15 minutes. The works should strive for innovation in form and demonstrate excellence in musicality and technicality. The specific details of the presentation of the works will be discussed and agreed upon between the composers and the technicians.
