Han Yan is a Pipa teacher at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, is a council member of the Pipa Professional Committee of the Shanghai Musicians Association and holds a Master's degree from the China Conservatory of Music. She has successively studied Pipa under the guidance of Professors Shao Xiuchong, Dong Nan, and Yang Jing. Throughout the learning process, eminent musicians such as Liu Dehai, Tang Liangxing, and Yu Liangmo also offered valuable guidance.

She has received numerous awards, including the Gold Prize in the Juvenile Group at the 3rd "Wenhua Art School Awards" National Ethnic Musical Instrument Performance Competition organized by the Ministry of Culture, the Silver Prize in the Youth Group at the 5th "Wenhua Art School Awards," and the Highest Solo Prize at the 6th "Wenhua Art School Awards." She also placed third in the 2018 Taipei Ethnic Instrument Concerto Competition.

Han Yan has successfully held multiple concerts nationwide and has been frequently invited to collaborate with renowned symphony orchestras on performances. She has recorded the Pipa and five-string Pipa parts for the theme song "He Guang Tong Chun" of the 15th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity. Since 2020, She has worked with renowned musician Tan Dun on his "Pipa Concerto," receiving widespread praise. In 2021, she was invited as a soloist to participate in the closing ceremony concert of the 24th Beijing International Music Festival.
