I.GENERAL PROVISIONS
MUSICACOUSTICA-HANGZHOU 2023 Best Paper Awards will be held from October 24th to 29th to promote the creativity, development, and the international academic exchange of electroacoustic music. MUSICACOUSTICA-HANGZHOU Best Paper Awards 2023 is hosted by the Organizing Committee of MUSICACOUSTICA-HANGZHOU 2023 and supported by Electroacoustic Music Association of China (EMAC).
II.REQUIREMENTS
1.Contestants:
MUSICACOUSTICA-HANGZHOU 2023 Best Paper Awards is open to all scholars under the age of 45, regardless of their field of study, educational background, academic title, or nationality.
2.Submission Deadline:
The complete submission materials must be received no later than October 9th, 2023.
3.Entry Fee:
Entry fee is 200 RMB (could also be 28 Euro or 30 USD) for each submission. For EMAC members or students, the entry fee is 100 RMB. For more information about international transfer, please see the attachment.
4.Method of payment:
1) Online-bank transfers; 2) bank transfer.
Notes:
Please make sure to indicate that it is for Best Paper Awards Entry Fee and provide your name.
5.Special Reminder:
1)The organizing committee will not be able to receive ATM transfer;
2)Contestants should send the scanned receipt/voucher of the transfer to musicacoustica@zjcm.edu.cn. Submitted works without the scanned receipt/voucher will be deemed to be waived automatically.
6.Violations:
To ensure fairness in the competition, any submitted paper that involves academic misconduct will be immediately subject to disqualification.
7.Submission Materials:
Each applicant should submit the materials in a zip file and name all the title of each document in the format of [Paper Title-Name-Document], the required files are as following.
1) Best Paper Awards application form in digital form (Word format);
2) A signed Paper Copyright Commitment Letter in digital form to grant the MUSICACOUSTICA-HANGZHOU Organizing Committee the rights as stated in item V.OTHER MATTERS.
3) Scanned official ID to confirm the age and identity of the applicant;
4) Scanned copy of the submission fee transfer receipt;
5) Papers for submission.
8.Paper Format Requirements:
1)Written in the format of academic papers, including abstracts, keywords, references, etc.;
2)The recommended word count is around 5000-15000 (excluding charts, music scores, etc.). The organizing committee reserves the right to reject papers with too few or too many words.
3)It is recommended to use Chinese for submitted papers. The main text of the paper should be in font size 5 Song typeface, major headings in font size 3 bold typeface, and chapter and section headings in font size 4 bold typeface. Use A4 paper size for page layout.

III.Selection PROCESS
1.To ensure fairness in the selection process, the organizing committee will invite experts and scholars in the field of electroacoustic music to serve as judges. The number of judges will range from 8 to 15, and the judging process will be conducted anonymously.
2.The paper selection process consists of two stages: initial review and paper presentation. During the initial review, the judges will anonymously review and vote on papers to select those that proceed to the paper presentation stage. During the paper presentation stage, all authors are required to participate in an on-site paper presentation organized by the organizing committee (online presentation is also possible in special cases). Authors will address questions from judges related to their submitted papers.The responses will contribute to the final determination of paper rankings and awards. The list of papers entering the presentation stage and the list of awarded papers will be promptly published on the MUSICACOUSTICA-HANGZHOU official website and official WeChat account. Please stay tuned for updates.
3.Best Paper Awards include: First Prize (1 winner), Second Prize (2 winners), Third Prize (3 winners), and Excellent Paper Award (4 winners). Based to the recommendations of judges and the MUSICACOUSTICA Best Paper Awards Committee, a special individual award could be added and certain prizes could be vacant.
The list of awarded papers will be announced during the closing ceremony of the MUSICACOUSTICA-HANGZHOU 2023, and certificates will be presented on-site. Awarded papers will be published on the MUSICACOUSTICA-HANGZHOU official website and Electroacoustic Music Association of China (EMAC), and will also be organized for publication by the MUSICACOUSTICA-HANGZHOU organizing committee.
Note: MUSICACOUSTICA-HANGZHOU 2023 Best Paper Awards is a non-profit academic activity.

V.Other Matters
1.All participants are required to grant the organizers the following rights:
1)The right to use the submitted papers for promotional purposes and compilation publication.
2)The authorization covers all countries and regions worldwide.
3)By submitting materials, the authors of the submitted papers signify their agreement to adhere to the regulations of this competition.
2.The organizing committee reserves the final right to interpret the paper awards regulations. The organizing committee has the authority to make relevant modifications to these regulations when irresistible factor occurs.
